Nokia and Ericsson have taken different paths in the mobile phone industry over the years:
Nokia
Nokia was once a global leader in mobile phones but struggled to compete with the rise of smartphones.
In 2014, Nokia's Devices and Services division was sold to Microsoft, which led to the Lumia series of Windows Phones. However, these didn't gain significant traction.
In 2016, HMD Global acquired the rights to produce phones under the Nokia brand. Since then, Nokia has focused on Android smartphones and feature phones.
Recent models include the Nokia G42 5G, Nokia XR21, and Nokia C32, which cater to budget and mid-range markets.
Ericsson
Ericsson exited the mobile phone market in 2012 after its joint venture with Sony, known as Sony Ericsson, ended.
Sony took over the mobile phone business and rebranded it as Sony Mobile, focusing on the Xperia series of smartphones.
Ericsson now focuses on telecommunications infrastructure, such as 5G networks, rather than consumer devices.
Both companies have shifted their strategies to adapt to changing market dynamics.
