How to configure paging space in laptop

Configuring paging space (virtual memory) on a laptop can help improve performance, especially if you're running out of physical RAM. Here's how you can do it:

Steps to Configure Paging Space

  1. Access Advanced System Settings:

    • Press Windows + R, type sysdm.cpl, and hit Enter.

    • In the System Properties window, go to the Advanced tab.

  2. Open Performance Settings:

    • Under the Performance section, click on Settings.

    • In the Performance Options window, go to the Advanced tab.

  3. Adjust Virtual Memory:

    • Click on Change under the Virtual Memory section.

    • Uncheck the box for "Automatically manage paging file size for all drives."

  4. Set Custom Size:

    • Select the drive where you want to configure paging space (usually the C: drive).

    • Choose Custom size and enter the Initial and Maximum size values:

      • Initial size: At least 1.5 times your RAM.

      • Maximum size: Up to 4 times your RAM.

  5. Apply Changes:

    • Click Set, then OK to save the changes.

    • Restart your laptop to apply the new settings.
